lyrics

I heard a tale
Of a dragon who saved a town
He fought off every danger
And asked for nothing in return
He stood at one hundred feet tall
With wings that could blow down a castle
And the people looked upon him
And more than ever
They saw a god

And they sang,
“O, Holy Monster, what are you?”
And they danced all around for a fortnight or two
“But it's time for bed
So rest your head, sweet dragon
May we ever be your friends.”

Now this dragon had a home
It was far away in the mountains
And sometimes he felt lonely
Being the only one of his kind

He called the town his friends
But they believed that he was
So much more

And he sang,
“I am your savior, not your God!
I've done nothing to deserve the praise you throw around your lots”
“But it's time for bed
So rest your head, sweet dragon”
“I am ever only your friend.”

And they sang,
“O, Holy Monster, what are you?”
And they danced all around for a fortnight or two
“But it's time for bed
So rest your head, sweet dragon
May we ever be your friends.”
“I am ever always your friend.”
